Happy Valentine's Day!

  Happy Valentine's Day everyone!  Hope you have a really romantic day:)  I haven't posted anything on here for several months now because my computer is having trouble loading photos.  It has been so frustrating!

Anyways, here are the treat boxes that I made for my daughter's class for Valentine's day. 

Stamps:  Love You Much

Inks:  black stazon

Punches:  Scallop Circle, 1" circle, 3/4" circle, Heart to Heart

Paper:  Pink pirouette, Riding Hood Red, Whisper White, Candy Lane Designer paper

Accessories:  white grosgrain ribbon, Stickles, Pillow box die

Valentine's Triangle Box

I came across the tutorial for this triangle box here.  I started with a chocolate chip base and stamped it in white craft ink with the new Sprinkles stamp set.  Next I stamped and colored (with SU markers) the little mouse from Happy Heart Day.  Then I cut him out and covered his shirt with Cotton Candy Stickles and set him aside to dry.  Next, I used the "so sweet of you" stamp from the Sale-a-bration set,  So Many Scallops, and stamped it in pretty in pink ink.  Then I cut it out using the scallop punch and punched out the center with the circle punch.  I went around the scallops with Liquid Pearls (I found this over the weekend at a LSS) and set it aside to dry.  I couldn't fit the circle punch into the center of the box so punched out a circle on a scrap paper and the traced it and cut it out by hand.  I glued in a piece of acetate to the inside of the box over the window.  The sentiment is stamped in black on white cardstock, cut out with the window punch and then I sponged pink around the edges.  When the pearls and the mouse were dry, I attached them and tied a pretty in pink grosgrain ribbon bow to the top.  This is a fairly large box and will hold a good amount of treats.

Baby, it's COLD outside!

OMG...yesterday we had a blizzard but today it's FREEEEEZING!  In Canada we measure windchill or how cold it feels to the skin when you factor in the wind to the actual temperature.  Today's actual temperature is -35C (-31F) but with the wind it feels like -50C (-58F)!!!!!  Here's the kicker though, they didn't even cancel school!  Your skin freezes in seconds but they don't seem to care.  SO frustrating!  This is suppose to stick around for a couple of days.  My poor husband is just getting over one of the worst flus I have ever seen.  He was in bed for 3 days and had a nasty high temperature.  He works 10 - 12 hours a day...driving outside!  His first day back to work he drove around in the blizzard all day and today he is out in that deep-freeze.  Definitely my hero today.  He's been through a lot this week. 

Okay, here is my last peppermint patty project (I think, lol).  I have really been on a roll with them this week:)  This little basket I saw on Cambria's Blog and had to try them.  They are tiny (fits in the palm of your hand) and are perfect when you just want to give a little something.

Recipe:  Berry Bliss Designer Paper, pretty in pink cs, close to cocoa cs, choc. chip ribbon, pretty in pink ribbon, jumbo eyelets, soft subtle brads, vintage brad, Love & Happiness rub-ons (SAB) and Cherished Memories rub-ons.

Container for Peppermint Patties

This is why I love splitcoaststampers!  I was on there the other day and I came across a lady who made a tin like this one to hold peppermint patties.  I was so excited because I was trying to find something to put the ones I made in AND I just happened to have one tea tin left over (from Papertrey)!!

I covered the tin with Berry Bliss Designer Paper (AGAIN!  I told you I was going to use it a lot, lol).  I tied a bow around it using the choc. chip 5/8" grosgrain ribbon.  I used the scallop punch to punch out a scalloped circle and wouldn't you know it...I found a rub-on from the Love & Happiness SAB kit that fit the scallop...perfectly!  I attached it to the ribbon with silver cord. 

For the lid, I used the Marvy Circle punch on Berry Bliss paper.  I used another rub-on from Cherished Memories for the sentiment.  I attached the circle with a little Tombow Glue.

Finally, I just layered the peppermint patties with a little pink filler that I picked up at Michael's.

Tent-topper Valentine

I haven't done a tent-topper card in a while so here's one for Valentine's Day:)!  I was so addicted to these last summer I had to wean myself off, lol!  I am really lovin' the Berry Bliss Designer Paper...it is gorgeous!  I'm sure I will be stuck on the close to cocoa/pretty in pink color combo for the next few weeks until I try out every design:) 

So the card base is pretty in pink measuring  4 1/4 x 4 1/4.  I used Berry Bliss DS paper on pretty in pink and close to cocoa cardstock.  Soft subtle brads are in all four corners and a piece of grosgrain ribbon is tied around the middle.  Then I attached it to the base using dimensionals.  The main image is punched with the Marvy giga scallop circle punch.  I doodled around the scallops with a white gel pen.  I punched a pink circle out using the Marvy mega circle punch.  I stamped the butterfly from the Happy Heart Day set with black stazon ink.  Then I colored them in using a white gel pen.  After it had dried very well, I went over it with stickles for a little glitter!  I have had LOTS of emails lately from people who are wondering what Stickles are so I included a bottle in my picture so that everyone could see what I was talking about.  I bought mine on-line at Scrapping Great Deals and they come in lots of different colors.  I use the diamond colored one the most.  The sentiment is Stampin' Up's new rub-ons.  This one is from Cherished Memories.  The corners were done with the SU ticket punch.

Peppermint patties for Valentine's Day

These were so fun!  Here is a quick and easy treat for your valentine:)  Just attach a scalloped circle (using the SU scallop punch) with SNAIL or a glue dot (or two) to a York peppermint patty.  I think I will be making A LOT more of these!  It is hard to tell but I used stickles on all of the images so these are really shiny in real life.

Supplies used:

Cardstock:  real red, pretty in pink, close to cocoa, vanilla

Inks: black stazon

Accessories:  SU scallop punch, 1 3/8" and  1 1/4" circle punch, stickles, SU markers, sponge, white gel pen

Valentine's Genie Bag

I have been making these little genie bags now for every holiday (see Christmas and Halloween) so here is one for Valentine's Day!

I used the beads duo kit on the heart and made a huge mistake so it doesn't look very good but of course it was the last thing that I put on so I didn't want to throw out all my hard work!  I thought I would just post it anyways!  Anyways, these bags look much larger in the pictures but only measure 4" x 5 1/4".  They are called microbags and can be picked up at Walmart in the craft area.  I covered them front and back with a piece of pretty in pink cardstock, cut just a 1/2" or so larger than the bag.  Then I added a piece of Berry Bliss Designer Series paper (scalloped along the bottom by using the corner rounder punch with the guard removed) and added 2 pretty in pink brads in the top corners.  A piece of pink taffeta ribbon was tied near the bottom.  The panels were then attached to the bag with sticky strip.  I used my Marvy Giga scalloped circle punch on pretty in pink cardstock.  I punched out a circle using my Marvy Mega circle punch on vanilla cardstock.  I matte it to close to cocoa and cut around the edges freehand.  I used the mouse from Happy Heart Day, stamped in black Stazon.  Then I used SU markers to color it in.  Pretty in pink was sponged around the edges and accents on the scallops were done in white gel pen.  I stamped the tag on vanilla and colored it in with SU markers.  I added a flower from the set on the top of the tag and covered it with diamond Stickles.

It felt so good to stamp again today!  I have been really down lately.  We found out that our cat has kidney failure and we are going to have to put him down.  We have had him for 16 years and my oldest son is taking it really hard.  It breaks my heart to see him so sad.  We are trying to choose a date right now but none of us seem able to do it.  We are going to miss him a lot.  He is a purebread Manx and has a really unique personality.  He's like that cartoon, Pinky and the Brain, where the mouse thinks he's going to conquere the world.  Our cat just looks at us like we are completely stupid all the time.  It's quite funny!

This card I made for my husband for Valentine's Day.  I got an order full of goodies yesterday so I couldn't wait to get at it:)  The card base is textured pretty in pink (measures 5 1/4 x 5 1/4).  The design along the bottom is using Stampin' Up's new rub-ons!  I love them, they are SO easy to use.  This set, Love & Happiness, are only available through Sale-a-bration which starts on February 1st.  For every $70 CAN that you spend you will receive one of the five limited edition stamp sets or this rub-on kit...FREE!  The main image is stamped with the elephant from Happy Heart Day and colored with going gray and pretty in pink markers.  I used the pink bead duos for the heart at the end of his trunk.  The beads were adhered with Tombow adhesive (now available through Stampin' Up!)  The sentiment is also a rub-on from the Sale-a-bration kit.  I doodled around the circle with a close to cocoa marker, matte it to choc. chip cardstock and attached it to a pretty in pink scalloped circle (Marvy giga punch).  Then I punched holes around the scallops with the smallest circle punch.  I finally used my Build-A-Brad kit!  YEAH!  I have had it for months and either the project wasn't right for it or I would be done the card and realized that I forgot to add it, lol!  OMG...I really love them:)  They are unbelievably quick to put together.  For this one, I punched a pretty in pink circle and placed a flower in the middle from...you guessed it...the rub-on kit! The designer paper is Close to Cocoa and I matted it to pretty in pink and then choc. chip.  I used the photo corner punch on pretty in pink cardstock and on Close to Cocoa designer paper and attached them in the corners with a soft subtle brad.  Pink taffeta ribbon is tied behind the main image.  The entire card front is popped up on dimensionals.

Gettin' a head start on Valentine's Day!

I know...I was just complaining in my post earlier today that I was behind on Christmas preparations and here I am making a Valentine's Day card:)  I saw the sketch challenge on SCS today and this popped into my head immediately!  I just got the new designer paper, Ginger Blossoms, from the new catalogue that is coming out in January.  Demonstrators are allowed to preorder anything that was in the preview catalogue.  The designer paper is SO PRETTY...I just had to have it, lol!  I also ordered the cute little Valentine's Day set, Happy Heart Day.  This set is so cute but I wanted it to be more versitile so I when I mounted it, I cut the sayings off of the animals and mounted them on the sides of the blocks so I can use just the sayings or just the animals if I want to.  I also cut a group of the flowers by the elephants feet off so I can use them by themselves as well (as I did here).

This card was a lot more detailed than I am used to.  First I stamped the three images on white paper.  I punched out the butterfly and flowers with the 1 1/4" punch and colored them with reinkers and an aquapainter.  Then I added stickles to them both and set them aside to dry.  Then I cut out the mouse and the flower that is in the big heart with a pair of scissors.  I colored them with a going gray marker and an aquapainter and then attached it to a 1 1/4" river rock circle.  Then I attached it to a groovy guava 1 3/8" circle and then a pomegranate scalloped circle.  I dotted around the scallops with my white gel pen and added stickles to the mouse and set them aside to dry.  I matted the now dry butterfly and flowers to pomegranate and then punched out two more circles out of the designer paper and matte them to pomegranate as well. On the River Rock panel behind the circles, I stamped the flower stamp randomly to make a background.  Then I attached it to a piece of groovy guava c.s. and used the All in a Row stamp set to create faux stitching.

   Then I added the circles.  The three main circles were attached with dimensionals.  Behind that panel I used another piece of Ginger blossom designer paper.  I matte that to river rock and then the groovy guava base.  I stamped the sentiment in black on white cardstock and punched it out with the word window punch.  Then I cut out a guava and pomegranate matte by hand.  Primas were added on the bottom corner and attached with vintage brads.

The inside is watercolored and I doodled around the edge with a black marker.  Okay, now back to Christmas, lol!
