Color Challenge #137

What beautiful colors they chose for the SCS color challenge today!  Pomegranate, Basic Gray and Soft Sky!  Love it!  I hadn't had an opportunity to use my new Pomegranate satin ribbon yet either so I was more than happy to incorporate it on this card!

The basic gray card base is 5" x 5".  I cut a strip of purely pomegranate cardstock and stamped En Francais in pomegranate ink on it.  Then I tore the edge off and attached it to the base.  The main image is the flowers from In Full Bloom (retired SU) on vanilla cardstock.  Using my aquapainter and pomegranate and old olive reinkers, I colored the image in.  I then matte it to pomegranate, soft sky and basic gray after I cut the corners with the ticket corner punch.  Then I added 3 brads on the side.  My friend, Colleen, was nice enough to buy me these brads at our LSS since they matched purely pomegranate so well:)!  Thank you SO MUCH, Colleen!  They really added something to this card!  In case anyone is wondering they are made by "doodle bug design inc".  She also bought me ones that match River Rock, yahoo!  ANYWAYS...then I attached the main image to the base with dimensionals.  The greeting is from Sincere Salutations and cut out with the oval punch and matte to pomegranate.  Then I tied a nice big bow at the bottom with the purely pomegranate satin ribbon.

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all the stampin' mom's!  Hope you are all having a great relaxing day!  We are going out for a brunch in a couple of hours at a local hotel.  This is the third year we have gone, it's always so much fun.  They have a man there that twist balloons into any shape the kids want.  Last year he made my daughter butterfly wings and a flower corsage.  I was really cool!  I also got a lot of really nice presents from the kids so I will post them later (I have only unwrapped half of them...they are making me wait until brunch for the rest!).

Here is another card I made for this weeks sketch challenge.  I love the look of chocolate chip with certainly celery...makes me think of "After 8" chocolates!  Yum!  I stamped the background stamp, Well Worn Words, in celery on white cardstock.  Then I used the 2 largest SU square punches to make 8 squares.  The two largest flowers were watercolored on white cardstock, cut out and popped up on dimensionals.  I stamped the leaf and stem image behind them on the celery cardstock.   When I showed my 9 year old son this morning, he said, "Nice card but it is missing something."  I thought the same thing when I finished it last night...finally we decided...it needed glitter!  Anyone who has taken one of my classes would know that I think all cards need glitter but I try to only use it at Christmas time *wink*.  It sure did the trick this time!

My husband and I went to Cirque de Soleil yesterday and was it ever fabulous!  It was the second time that I have seen them (the last time was 11 years ago in Toronto).  If you have never seen them before...go out of your way to go!  They are so amazingly talented.

Cardstock:  Choc. chip, celery, whisper white, black

Inks:  Choc. Chip, certainly celery, black, yoyo yellow,  black

Accessories:  dazzling diamond glitter, aquapainter, reinkers, dimensionals, ticket corner punch, 1 3/8" square punch, 1 1/4" square punch, chocolate grosgrain ribbon

Cracked glass technique

I tried another "In Full Bloom" card but this time I used the cracked glass technique.  It has really bad glare though when you try to photograph it so it absolutely looks better in person.  I used my color spritzer for the background on the really rust cardstock and I spritzed chocolate chip brown around the flowers. 

Stamp sets:  In full bloom, wonderful words, cheesecloth

Cardstock:  really rust, so saffron, black, confetti cream, old olive

Ink:  really rust, choc. chip, so saffron, black, old olive

Accessories:  aquapainter and reinkers, color spritzer, glassy glaze embossing powder, Versamark, copper cord, paper piercer

Sketch Challenge thank you

I was trying a sketch challenge out on SCS again and this is what I came up with.  I really like the "In Full Bloom" set but for some reason I haven't been using it lately.  Time to dust it off, just in time for spring! 

Stamp sets:  In Full Bloom, Cheesecloth, Canvas, Wonderful Words

Cardstock and inks:  bravo burgundy, old olive, black, white, so saffron

Accessories:  Twill tape, cutter kit, ticket corner punch, dimensionals, reinkers and aquapainter

More pink?

I obviously have pink on the brain lately because I have been using that color a lot.  To my credit, this color is regal rose though not pretty in pink like the others:)  This card is using both a card sketch challenge and a color challenge from SCS.

Colors: regal rose, confetti cream, certainly celery, so saffron

Accessories:  white gel pen, vintage brads, aquapainter, dimensionals

This second card is one that I designed for a workshop that I did this week.  I wanted to use all of the items in the Spring Fever Promotion. 

Stamp set:  Polka Dots and Paisley, Petal Jumbo Wheel

Colors:  Pretty in Pink, taken with teal, black

Accessories:  black narrow organdy ribbon, markers, petals and paisley designer series paper

I have been suffering from a cold this week so I feel creatively drained!  I know that I must be sick if I don't feel like stamping!  On a good note though, they just announced the date of the Faith Hill and Tim McGraw concert in Saskatoon...since Illya won free country tickets for the year...I'm going crazy with happiness!!  I hope our seats are as good as the ones we had for Rascal Flatts.  June 21st....CAN'T WAIT!!!
