Here is my other Christmas card for 2008. This one was fun because I love using my Big Shot:) The main image was colored with SU markers and the "ice" was watercolored with an aquapainter and SU ink.

Okay, this one is out of season but since I couldn't post it at Christmas......
This was one of my Christmas cards for 2008. The main image took...FOREVER... to color but it was worth it in the end. I used diamond Stickles for the "snow" on the steps and on the light so it was really shiny in real life. The image was colored with Stampin Up markers.

TOTALLY hate thinking about Christmas in the summer time BUT I ordered the retiring set Peaceful Wishes (on my wish list forever so I didn't want to be kicking myself for not getting it) and the new set Heard from the Heart (that will be available in the new catalogue on August 11th) SO I HAD to make a Christmas card *wink*.

the diamond shaped brads in the vintage brads pack! I never use them:) I am going to have to mass produce this card just to use them all up, lol!
The card base is night of navy and I stamped snowflakes from Perennial Favorites in silver Encore ink. Next, I ran a piece of silver cardstock through my cuttlebug. The corners were punched with the ticket corner punch. The "Happy Holidays" greeting from Warmest Wishes was stamped in silver on a small piece of black. I punched a hole with the window punch in the silver cardstock and placed the greeting so it would peek through. The main image is stamped with the snowmen from Festive Favorites. I watercolored them with an aquapainter and night of navy and brocade blue reinkers. I attached it to black and placed 2 diamond brads on each side. This panel was placed on dimensionals and a night of navy bow was attached with a glue dot.
I have a nasty cold today so I think I will grab some hot chocolate and a blanket and curl up on the couch:) I haven't been sick in a really long time so I am feeling a little bit sucky about it. I guess the good thing is that I am probably getting it out of the way before Christmas holidays...trying to look at the brightside...
These are the hardest cards to photograph! I must have taken 50 shots with different lighting and background colors and finally got one that was okay but there is still a lot of reflection in the acetate. I made my first acetate card for Halloween and loved it so I had to try another one for Christmas.
The image is from the SU set, Frosty. It was colored with SU markers (elegant eggplant and regal rose). Around the snowman I used an eggplant marker and the color spritzer. It was mounted on to black and I did doodling around the edge with my white gel pen. The actate is stamped with white stazon using the snowflake from Frosty as well. The greeting (from Papertrey) is stamped in white on eggplant and cut out using the 1 1/4" circle punch and matte to a white 1 3/8" circle. The greeting is attached using a dimensional. Silver cord is wrapped several times around the left side and then tied in a bow.
This weeks SCS color challenge is pretty in pink, wild wasabi and white. I used them to make this Christmas card and I can't believe you can use pink for Christmas! How nice to be able to think outside the traditional holiday colors, it's so refreshing:)! Now that my little furry friend has left my house (see posts below!) I can concentrate on getting my Christmas cards done. I have about 60 of them to do this year so I would like to have 4 or 5 different designs just to keep the boredom to a minimum, lol!
Flaky Friends is by far one of my most favorite holiday sets. For this card, I used a pretty in pink base and then a layer of wild wasabi. Around the edge of the wasabi, I used my white gel pen for faux stitching. Next I used my cuttlebug to emboss the snowflakes on pretty in pink. I cut the cardstock diagonally, twice (in an "X"), and then attached it to the wasabi. With the Marvy Mega circle punch, I punched a circle around the snowmen who were stamped in black stazon ink. The image was colored with SU markers and an aquapainter and reinker. With scissors, I cut a pink layer around the snowmen and then cut out a scallop circle with the Marvy Giga punch. I went around the scallops with a white gel pen. In the top left corner I attached a piece of Wild Wasabi Double Stitched ribbon with a Soft Subtle brad. The greeting is from Papertrey Inks and was layered on pink and wasabi. Stickles were applied on some of the snowmen outfits.
Inside, I stamped the christmas tree from Flaky Friends and the greeting from Sidekick Sayings in black stazon. The tree was colored with SU markers and then I sponged around the edges with wasabi. Stickles were used around the base of the tree and for the star.
I really liked todays SCS sketch challenge:)! I have been meaning to get some Christmas cards done and this was the perfect sketch for it. This card was VERY difficult to photograph though so in case you can't tell, about 1 1/2" were cut from the front right side so that the inside peeks out.
I stamped the snowmen from Flaky Friends in black stazon ink on white cardstock. Using my aquapainter and ballet blue reinker I colored the sky background. Using my bold bright SU markers I colored in the details on the snowmen. I matte the image to real red cardstock and used diamond stickles for the snow, then set it aside to dry. I made the black scalloped frame by punching four squares with my square scallop punch and gluing them together. Behind that, I stamped a rectangular piece of white cardstock in real red with the Flannel Plaid background stamp. It was matte to black and vintage brads were placed all four corners. A piece of real red grosgrain ribbon was wrapped around the bottom and then I tied a faux bow and attached it with a mini glue dot. The rectangular panel was attached to the front of the card base with dimensionals. Once the main panel was dry, I attached it to the card front and added the sentiment.
Inside, I matte a piece of white cardstock to black and attached it to the real red base. In black stazon, I stamped the tree from Flaky Friends and colored it with SU markers. The christmas saying from the hostess set, Sidekick Sayings, was stamped in black. Stickles were added under the tree for "snow."
So I think anytime after July 1st it is okay to start thinking about Christmas...for card designs anyways:) I must admit though that I have already bought one Christmas gift (cringing with shame). It is for my nephew and I found it on sale and couldn't resist! ANYWAYS...I just got the Festive Favorite set so I thought I would give it a whirl. I really like this set but I do wish that the main three images were on separate blocks and not just on one big one. I think it would be a bit of a pain if I was making more than one. The background is the snow flake image stamped in white craft ink onto blue bayou cardstock. I used the Snowflakes cuttlebug embossing folder on soft sky cardstock and then sponged a little blue bayou ink around the edge before I notched out the corners using the ticket corner punch.Then that panel was adhered to the black cardstock using dimensionals. The main image was watercolored using close to cocoa and soft sky reinkers and an aquapainter. I used stickles on the reindeers backs for a little holiday shine! "Holiday Happiness" from the So Many Sayings hostess set fit perfectly using the word window punch. Finally I wrapped a little blue bayou double stitched ribbon around the middle. Lovin' that ribbon:)!
I made this card this afternoon for the ways to use it challenge on SCS. Today's challenge was to make a square card of any size. This one is 5 1/4 x 5 1/4. Anyways, I get it all done and I set it on my hutch, right next to the red, black and white card I made last night!! I wasn't even thinking about it...I mean I meant to do that:)! So let's make it a color challenge...if you have any red, white and black cards that you would like to share, email them to me and I will post them on my blog! The other thing is that this is a Christmas card...in June! I have been just dying to make one lately (I need therapy!) So hopefully I have gotten this out of my system now. I am from the Canadian prairies and 'round here we don't discuss snow and winter in the summer time because it's really bad luck!! If we have a freak snow fall today the whole city will hunt me down, lol!
