Warm-up challenge

This weeks Technique Lover's Challenge was to do warm up cards.  Something quick and easy that would only take 10 - 15 minutes for when you don't have time to stamp but want to keep your creative juices flowing.  Okay, so this card took MUCH longer than 10 minutes, lol!  I am so fussy when I stamp there is NO WAY I can finish anything quickly!  So this one was "quick for me":)!!!

I love this hostess set, Both Way Blossoms.  I colored in the petals using a white gel pen, doesn't it just stand out on the yellow cardstock!  I also love my gel pen (hmmm....haven't mentioned that before, have I?)!  It is hard to see but I also stamped the background using the soon-to-be retired French Script stamp.

Cardstock and ink:  yoyo yellow, black

Accessories:  black gingham ribbon, white gel pen, EE markers, black marker

Sunny Mother's Day Card

This card will always have bad memories for me.  I was just about finished it and Illya came us from the basement and let me know that our hot water heater was spewing water all over our basement.  It was 11:30 p.m. and we were up until 2 this morning cleaning it up.  The carpet is still pretty wet (our laundry room, bathroom and oldest son's bedroom were the worst).  I thought I would post this now because I will probably spend the rest of the day cleaning up....grrrrrrrr.  I am trying to look at the bright side...we stayed up unusually late last night (I wanted to finish this card:).  On a normal night, we would have been in bed already and the entire tank would have emptied.

Anyways.......I thought that this might make a good Mother's Day Card (no Mom...this one isn't yours either:)!!!!  I hadn't used my Magic Mesh in eons....love it with flower cards!  The edges were just done with scalloped scissors and I used the ticket corner punch again.  I love that punch and probably use it way to much (is that really possible;)?!!

Daisy thank you

I've been busy today!  This afternoon I was playing around with sketch and color challenges from SCS and I came up with this thank you card.  The color challenge used so saffron, certainly celery and cranberry crisp.  I added the black though because I thought it was a little bland without.  I colored the flowers in with a white gel pen as well I used it for the faux stitching.

Simple card for Illya

I was completely inspired by cards that I saw on SCS that used a masking technique and no layers.  I thought the saying, "I just love you"  was perfect for a simple card like this.  I used shimmering white paper and envelope so that there was a little sparkle and elegance to it.  I always think that you have to have 4 or 6 layers to make a beautiful card but really you don't.  The roses are watercolored with an aquapainter and reinker and the red around the flowers are sponged.  I wrapped a little bit of silver cord around it.  The saying is from a stamp set called "Double Line Doodles".  This set was given to demonstrators for attending Regionals and will be in the new catalogue in July.  The roses are from a Level 2 hostess set called "Both Way Blossoms."  Click on the photo to see how beautiful the shimmery white paper is....
