I'm from Nebraska, but no, this is not exactly the honeymoon mecca. Great place to live, but nah...not too exciting. We have traveled quite extensively in the U.S. Favorites: Seattle for the same reasons as San Francisco...picturesque, great food, etc. We loved Philadelphia and Washington DC for the museums and historical stuff...but I can't see that being a honeymoon activity. This summer we went to Miami Beach which we LOVED but the best part of that trip is when we stayed at Key West...that was heavenly.
Thanks SO much to everyone who took the time to leave a comment or email me personally! I was absolutely amazed at some of the wonderful trips people have been on! I was also surprised at how many people said I should visit ALASKA! I was expecting most to say really tropical places but Alaska topped the list followed closely by Oregon (I was here last year and I absolutely agree!) and Washington, D.C. Wow, you never know till you ask right?
I was asked several times where I live. I live in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. It is a small city (225,000 people or so) on the Canadian prairies. It is very pretty here, we have a river running through the middle of the city (I will post a picture here later...I don't think I have any digital shots to upload so I will go take some today). We are called the City of Bridges because we have a lot of bridges per capita. The area surrounding here is very flat though! VERY FLAT! However, on a beautiful clear night, you can drive out of town and often catch a spectacular Northern Lights show. They are mesmerizing, I could watch them for hours:)! If you drive a couple hours north of here, there are lakes galore! Northern Saskatchewan is mostly forest and lakes, great for fishing. Our winters though...are COLD! In January, it is not unusual to have temperatures in the -30 to -35C range (-22F to -31F). We are a hearty bunch though, we NEVER have snow days here! Last January we had the worst blizzard in 60 years and LOTS of people just kept on working if they could! School didn't even get cancelled that day:)! However, I think it is so beautiful around Christmas time when the city is blanketed in snow and all the Christmas light are on at everyone's homes and everyone is cozied up inside.
Again, I appreciate all the "honeymoon" suggestions:) I am definately using some of them to help us decide where to go (hopefully we can go this winter to escape the cold temp. mentioned above, lol).
Edited: Here are the photos of the riverbank in Saskatoon. I was married in the hotel...it's old looking and elegant. It's the jewel of our riverbank area. The Queen of England even stayed there once.
