Halloween Hanging Treat Box

  Halloween is so much fun!!  I get a kick out of designing 3D items for this holiday.  This is a hanging treat box a really quick and easy way to dress up a plain old bottle of water. 

Recipe:

Stamps:  Booglie Eyes, Everyday Flexible Phrases

Ink:  Black stazon, white craft, pumpkin pie

Cardstock:  Creepy Crawly DS paper, black, white, pumpkin pie

Accessories:  White gel pen, black grosgrain, crystal effects, dimensionals

Punches: Scallop edge, 1 3/8" circle, word window, scallop circle, ticket corner, corner rounder

 

I used crystal effects on the spider but it is really difficult to photograph:)

3 x 3 Note Card Box

WOW!  Where does the time go?  My kids registered for school this morning.  Two month just whizzed by! 

We are getting ready for a quick trip to Calgary/Banff this weekend and I can hardly wait!  My husband wasn't able to get summer holidays this year so we have been city bound and it is driving me crazy!  It will do my soul good to breathe in some fresh mountain air:)

Splitcoast had a great tutorial for 3 x 3 Note card boxes.

Christmas Gift Box

I am really thinking that I am going to start making a lot of Christmas things this month.  I am taking 4 - 6 weeks off so I will have the time where as I am SO busy in November and December (who isn't, right!).  This will make a great little box for someone special.  I can put candies and maybe a gift certificate in it.  The main image was watercolored with an aquapainter and a reinker.  Unfortunately, you cannot see how glittery the leaves are in this picture.  I used Stickles but they didn't show up no matter how many different pictures I tried to take of it:)

Invitations and treat bags for my son's birthday

For my son's 7th birthday, I made this trifold invitation with the Ahoy, Matey stamp set and the Matey's Map Jumbo Wheel.  The main image is colored with Stampin' Up Earth Element Markers.  I have sponged around the edges with choc. chip ink and then matte it to black and chocolate chip cardstock.  The image behind was wheeled with the jumbo wheel and then watercolored with an aquapainter and reinkers.  The card is then closed up and tied with a piece of black hemp.  The information on the inside was printed on my computer.

The treat bags were also wheeled with the Matey's Map wheel and watercolored with an aquapainter.  The parrot on the embellishment on the left was colored with Stampin' Up markers and cut out with a 1/2" circle punch.  The greeting from the Think Happy Thoughts set was stamped in black on creamy caramel cardstock and then cut out with the 1 1/4" circle punch.  Another circle is cut with the 1 3/8" circle punch and attached to the black scalloped circle. 

Valentine's sour cream container

These little sour cream containers have been on my to-do list for probably 2 years and I have never got around to trying one.  I was so excited to see a tutorial for them on Splitcoast this week!  They were really quick and easy to make.  For this one, I used the Ginger Blossom Designer series paper.  The insides are filled with cinnamon hearts...yum, yum:)

Recipe:  Riveting stamp set (retired hostess set),  Ginger Blossom DS paper, scallop circle punch, 1 3/8" punch, 1 1/4" punch, white gel pen, stickles, whisper white taffeta ribbon, crimper, sticky strip

Notepad Holder

GRRRRRR....holidays make me lazy!!!  I have been sitting here on the computer for three days looking at blogs and splitcoast and can`t seem to get any motivation to stamp!!!  I tried this afternoon and I really didn`t like what I came up with so I thought that I would post something that I made BEFORE Christmas and the dreaded relaxing holidays *wink*.

I had originally made this little notepad holder as a Christmas gift but then I made so much stuff, I ran out of people to give it too, lol!  This was made with perfect plum textured cardstock.  I stamped the main image with the Time Well Spent hostess stamp set.   I used my Soft Subtle markers to color and then added Stickles on the flowers for a little bling!  With a black marker, I doodled around the edges.  Then on the pretty in pink paper underneath, I stamped the flower from that set in black and colored in the centers with a white gel pen.  The butterfly was also colored with SU markers and was cut out and attached to the front with a glue dot.  I used pretty in pink grosgrain ribbon and ran it all around the holder.

Inside, I attached a note pad that I found at Staples with sticky strip.  I stamped the butterfly on the inside and highlighted it with a white gel pen.  It stays closed using a round piece of velcro.

Well, I am going to go and try this stamping thing again!  I have to get working on my calendar for this year too.  Last year I had it done in November and this year I haven`t even started:)

Happy Holidays everyone!

Hello, everyone!  I hope those that celebrate the holidays had a wonderful season:)  My Christmas started off pretty rough.  I spend Christmas eve alone for the first time ever...I had the flu!  I don't remember when I have had so many illnesses in a row like this.  Hopefully I am done now:)  I missed spending the day with my husband's family.  They had a brunch and opened gifts and went tobogganning and had a large supper feast.  I watched soap opera's on the couch and ate crackers.  Oh well!  I was very insistant that my husband take the kids so that it didn't ruin their day.  I missed them terribly though.  Christmas Day, I felt much better and was able to participate in my families festivities.  We opened gifts in the morning and spend the afternoon and evening at my parent's home indulging in wonderful turkey meal.  My husband (I mean, children *wink*) gave me a great gift this year...Copic Sketch markers!!  I can't wait to learn how to use them! 

This was a gift set that I gave to my aunt for Christmas.  She told me not to buy her anything so I didn't...I MADE her something:)  The instructions for the genie bag can be seen on a previous post.  I made a clear topped nugget box and a post-it note holder to fit inside.    All of the projects used the following materials (all Stampin' Up unless noted):  Dashing DS paper, real red cardstock, Frosty stamp set, acetate (Staples), photo corner punch, scallop punch, Marvy Giga Scallop punch, Marvy Mega circle punch, black marker, reinkers, aquapainter, Stickles, real red grosgrain ribbon, always artichoke grosgrain ribbon, white gel pen, real red brads, Hershey chocolate nuggets, post-it-notes.

Post - it note holder

I made another post it note holder last night.  This one is for Mackenna's preschool teacher.  They had the cutest "little" Christmas concert last night:)  There were probably about 60 - 80 family members there and they sang one cute little song and they were done, lol!  It was about 2 minutes and worth every second!  They are SO cute at that age:)

This holder is magnetic only.  I tried to make the stand twice, like the last one, but the chipboard was cracking terribly.  I used up the coasters that I had ordered from a lady last year.  They were really good quality.  These coasters that I have left were given to me by a fellow stamper but they are much thinner and are not good for projects like this one.  I stacked 3 of them this time so that it was a little thicker.  The front is covered with Ginger Blossom Designer Series Paper (absolutely lovin' it).  The circles were punched from pomegranate and pretty in pink cardstock.  A black vintage brad was added in the middle and attached to a piece of pretty in pink grosgrain ribbon for the pen holder.  I used the saying from Happy Harmony (stamped in pomegranate) and the flowers from Looks like Spring (stamped in pomegranate and guava).   The binder clip was added to the side and pieces of River Rock double stitched ribbon and pretty in pink grosgrain ribbon were tied to it.

My boys have their Christmas concerts tonight but unfortunately Tristan woke up with the flu and has to stay home from school today.  He missed some school last week because he had a fever and earache.  Poor thing just can't catch a break:(  He will be so disappointed if he can't attend tonight.  They have been practicing so hard for this, it's too bad.

Christmas Genie Bag

I love making these little genie bags:)  They are great to have around to wrap up a small gift or a gift card.  For this one, I used micro bags that I picked up at Walmart.  They measure 4 x 5.25".  I stamped Frosty in black stazon and watercolored him with real red and old olive reinkers and an aquapainter.  One it dried, I added diamond stickles to his hat, scarf and buttons.  With a black marker, I doodled around the circle.  I pasted it to an old olive circle and a real red scallop circle.  I used my white gel pen to dot the scallops around the circle.  Then I cut a piece of Dashing Designer Series Paper, tied a real red faux bow around the bottom and matte it to a piece of real red.  This panel was then attached to the bag with sticky strip.  The main image was then put on with several dimensionals.  On the handle I tied several pieces of artichoke and real red grosgrain ribbon.

I am not ready for Christmas yet and it is only 6 days away!!  I have a couple of presents left to buy, all my baking and a few homemade gifts to complete.  Last year I had vowed that I would start my Christmas cards in January so there wouldn't be any last minute rush...I didn't even design one until July and then I didn't mass produce any because it was hard to get in the mood because it was summer!!!  SO...that is going to be my new year's resolution.  I will design one Christmas card each month for the next year and immediately make 5 of them so by next December I will have 60 completed cards.  Well, I better stop typing and start stamping...I've got lots to do!

Post-it note holder

What to make for a male teacher?  It took me quite a while to figure it out but I came up with this:)   Who doesn't need post-it notes!  This holder has two options: you can set it on your desk using the stand on the back or put it on your fridge using the magnetic back. 

I cut a 4 x 4 piece of Spring Showers designer paper and adhered it to a chipboard coaster.  Using a sanding block, I rounded the corners and evened out the edges.  Then I cut out a choc. chip circle with the 1 3/8" circle punch and a bashful blue one with the 1 1/4" one.  I cut the circles in half and attached them to the coaster.  I cut a piece of bashful blue grosgrain ribbon and wrapped it around the RSVP mini pen.  Using my crop-o-dile, I cut a hole in the middle of the circles and a hole in the ribbon.  I lined up the ribbon with the hole on the chipboard and secured it with a black brad.  I added a post-it note pad with sticky strip and stamped the saying on the front in choc. chip with the Happy Harmony stamp set.  The flower were from Looks Like Spring and were stamped in choc. chip and bashful blue.  On the post-it notepad, I added a small binder clip with a piece of choc. chip and bashful blue grosgrain ribbon tied on it.

For the back, I took a second coaster and cut two sides of a triangle with an exacto knife.  Then I added four magnetic squares on each corner.  Finally I used sticky strip to put the coasters together.  Very quick and easy to make, I hope he likes it!
